Talent Profile

This month we want to introduce to you Mitchell Barlow sharing his experience on the set of High School Musical:

“My name is Mitchell Barlow and for the last 4 months I had an alter ego. I was Jack Scott, school announcer, American student and the Velvet Fog of East High.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL is a major Disney production that had massive success from viewers worldwide. This year Wellington Musical Theatre brought this popular, much loved film to life, on stage at the Opera House.

I was fortunate enough to be a part of this 16-show production and also have the opportunity to play the important role of Jack Scott.

The easiest way to describe the job of my character is along the lines of an on stage narrator. I did the schools announcements, what was happening in that day (scene), what the audience was about to see and pretty much just keep the ball rolling. The interesting thing about this part was that he is not actually in the Disney film. This gave me the unique opportunity to create an entirely new character, and really make the role my own.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL was a huge part of my life. After the production was all over and we went from at least 14 hrs a week to absolutely nothing there was an element of sadness. But its good to be able to hang out with mates, sort out that graphics assignment that’s 8 weeks overdue and most important of all; sleep!”
